Technical Workshop #4 - Engineering the Mega Storage Projects - Practical Perspectives & Considerations
Tuesday, October 8, 2024, 9:15 AM - 10:05 AM

Drawing on our experience from engineering and designing over 3 GWh of stationary energy storage in Ontario, practical insights into multidisciplinary design concepts are offered to help facility owners optimize design and build of future projects. A wide range of topics including interconnection design and approvals, IBR modeling and system studies, environmental & permitting, high-voltage substation design, collector systems, fire protection, telecommunications, SCADA & dispatching, and equipment foundations are covered. Key concepts and learnings from recent experience highlight value engineering opportunities for owners. Additionally, we discuss the pros and cons of popular contracting methods recently used, helping owners choose the right approach for their unique organizational and project needs, reinforcing that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to engineering and construction contracting options.
