Technical Workshop #6 - NRCan’s Smart Grid Demonstration Program Portfolio Analysis: Leaps, Bounds and New Boundaries for Smart Grid Innovation

This presentation is an analysis of results from the twelve demonstration projects under NRCan’s 2018 Smart Grid Program. Project were led by electricity utilities and system operators, and focused on grid modernization, advanced distribution system operations, and a more active distribution system. We examine the solutions tested and the capabilities sought, namely technology selection, system design, market design, and rate structures. This presentation is alongside our friends from Alectra Utilities, who received funding for two projects under the Smart Grid Program and were parters in a third project.
