Considerations for Financing Energy Storage
Wednesday, October 9, 2024, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
As an incumbent technology, the path to securing financing for energy storage can at times be a challenging enterprise. While there is no one-size fits all solution, as one of the electricity grid’s critical tools for optimization it is important to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the technology within the finance and investment community, to clarify the opportunities and value storage offers, and demonstrate the security of energy storage investments as critical assets for Canada's future grid. This session will ask a range of finance experts operating in Canada, what the key considerations of financial institutions or investment firms are when evaluating energy storage projects? Are there considerations that are unique to energy storage? The energy industry is currently working to modernize its grid and regulatory frameworks - are there corresponding changes needed in the finance community to enable the scale and type of development we expect to see in the coming decades?
