Low Carbon Fuel Programs can play a key role in decarbonizing the maritime sector. This presentation will provide an overview of the Canadian LCF programs with a focus on how the maritime industry can participate in them. Topics to be covered include: LCF program’s purpose, design, and participants (i.e. LCF Programs 101); credit generation opportunities for the maritime sector; credit value and market outlook; overlap with IMO decarbonization targets. Credit generation opportunities discussed will include opportunities from shore power, LNG, Renewable-LNG, and other low carbon fuel consumption and bunkering. The presenter will also discuss the various options and constraints around RNG delivery, emission reduction claims, and carbon intensity.
