Max has been in the steel trade since the age of 17. Working as both a welder and fabricator, he attained Red Seal endorsements (RSE) in both and then went on to achieve Blue Seal Endorsements (BSE) in Business. Throughout his career, Max has held dozens of CWB and other agency qualifications. Max has been in the steel trades at all levels – from welders’ helper, welder/fitter, educator, manager, Business owner, and now National Director.
Max has written curriculum for the CWB (ELD) and SaskPolytech, created podcasts and webcasts on various topics, and taught Welding, Steel Fabrication, and developed and implemented the new Innovative Manufacturing Program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
The CWB Association Podcast hosted and developed by Max is ranked #2 in North America for trades podcasts and growing!
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Max participated in curriculum development committees across Canada to develop new and innovative ways to teach steel trades to students in a virtual and hybrid environment.
Max has been a keynote and invited speaker to conferences across North America and overseas for several years and these include shows such as Fabtech, CanWeld, and Skills Canada Initiatives.
Also, Max has worked on training development projects all over Canada and in two (2) major initiatives in Ghana (KTI, GoldFields). These projects included project scoping, lab development and design, training development, curriculum development, “train the trainer” programs, safety assessments, budgeting, and negotiating and procurement of necessary resources.
In January 2021, Max accepted the position of Executive Director for the Canadian Welding Bureau Association, one of the world’s largest not-for-profit industry associations. In this new role, Max manages 17 chapters across Canada and a membership of over 50,000 members internationally. Max hopes to support, educate and provide opportunities to all persons in the steel trades across Canada and beyond.
Max enjoys reading, guitars, great conversation, gaming, social activities, and philosophy.
Max was born in Mendoza Argentina to Chilean parents and is bilingual in both English and Spanish.
