Description

Located in the Minas Passage of the Bay of Fundy, FORCE is Canada’s leading facility for tidal stream energy research. The organization was created to better understand how this technology can play a role in Canada’s clean energy future, and help with Canada’s response to the challenges of climate change, including ocean acidification and coastal erosion.

Twice daily, 160 billion tonnes of water flow into and out of the Bay of Fundy: more than the total flow of all of the rivers in the world combined! This awesome natural resources, right here in Atlantic Canada, represents an incredible opportunity to harness clean, consistent and predictable renewable energy.

This presentation will provide insight into FORCE’s mission and the many milestones that have been achieved to date. It will also explore the challenges and obstacles that remain and how they are being addressed as the organization moves toward providing renewable energy to the grid.
