Mr. Oldfield is a Principal Hull Systems Specialist with Vard Marine Inc. with 17 years’ experience in hydrodynamic performance analysis contributing to vessel designs and research initiatives. His work has involved a wide variety of vessel types and a corresponding variety of design features, performance requirements, and phenomena. It often involves developing customized methods for unique problems. Some examples include ship-ice interaction, linear and nonlinear seakeeping, various roll reduction devices, moonpool run-up, slamming, parametric rolling, and manoeuvring. Mr. Oldfield completed a B.Eng. in Ocean and Naval Architectural Engineering at MUN, and a M.A.Sc. at the University of Toronto.
