Speaker Bio
Henry has spent most of his life “simply messing about in boats” as the saying goes, so a career as a Naval Architect is a natural fit with his interests. Henry grew up in Vancouver, gained his engineering bachelor’s degree from UBC, then went south to further his education at UC Berkeley and then started his career. Henry has worked in several different areas of vessel design; as a plan reviewer at a classification society, as the Operations Manager and Lead Naval Architect at a model basin, as the lead hydrodynamics expert at a consulting firm, and now as a Project Director and Sr. Naval Architect.
After several years of living and working abroad, Henry returned to Vancouver, and joined Robert Allan Ltd. in 2010. With his diverse background, he has been well suited to working on “oddball” projects that come up including passenger ferries, ice strengthened lifeboats, and fireboats. In 2016, Henry joined the ownership group at Robert Allan Ltd.
Henry is a registered Professional Engineer in British Columbia, Texas, and California.
