Terri Whitelaw has worked with Transport Canada since starting as a hull inspector in the St. John's office in 1988. She worked in the Technical Offshore section doing plan approval and first inspection of a variety of vessels spanning from small fishing vessels to Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessels. She was heavily involved with regulatory reform and led the group who re-wrote the fire regulations. She represented Canada at IMO with the Fire Protection committee. She transitioned to manager in 2006 with the Inspection Services group in St. John's, then returned to her roots in the Technical Offshore group in 2009. She became Associate Director of the Atlantic Region in 2016, moved to Pacific Region in the same role in 2017, then returned in 2018. Terri acted in the role Regional Director of Atlantic Region in 2020/21 and was appointed permanently in 2022.
