Chris Flanagan is CEO of Baffin Fisheries, and Past Chair of the Fisheries Counsel of Canada. Baffin Fisheries is owned by five Inuit Hunters and Trappers Associations on Baffin Island, Nunavut. The Company is the largest fishing enterprise in Northern Canada, with three factory freezer vessels, and more than 150 employees and crew. The company is about to take delivery of a new-build, 80-metre multi-species trawler, with electronic winches, factory robot, 1200-tonne freezer system, and more 1,000 hp. It will become the largest 100% Canadian owned fishing vessel. Chris was appointed to the senior management role in 2018 with a mission and mandate to maximize benefits for Inuit owners, and ensure sustainability of fisheries resources for Nunavut.
