Dr. Tsantrizos was born in Athens, Greece. He received
both his B.Eng. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from
McGill University.
Dr. Tsantrizos has 18 patents and over 50 publications, most related to waste treatment
technologies. Examples of technologies developed and commercialized by Dr.
Tsantrizos include: (i) the Plasma Arc Waste Destruction System (PAWDS), which is a
compact technology for the treatment of waste on board aircraft carriers; (ii) the Plasma
Atomization process used to produce high quality titanium powders; and (iii) the Micro
Auto Gasification System (MAGS), which is an energy appliance fueled by waste.
In 2017, Dr. Tsantrizos won the Prix du
Québec Lionel-Boulet given to researchers who have distinguished themselves through
their inventions, their scientific and technological innovations, their leadership in
scientific development, and their contribution to Québec's economic growth. Also in
2017, Dr. Tsantrizos was awarded the Senate of Canada 150 Medal.
