Julia Murphy is the Director of Seafarer Certification within Marine Safety and Security at Transport Canada and has been with Transport Canada for the past three years. Prior to Transport Canada, Julia was with the Canadian Coast Guard for 23 years where she began her career as a graduate from the Marine Engineering Officer program at the Canadian Coast Guard College. She sailed within the Atlantic region to ultimately obtain her 1st class Marine Engineering Certificate. Julia has excelled in various senior shore-based positions and continues to be an inspiration for women in the seafaring world. Julia is passionate about her career and works tirelessly to ensure that waterways are kept safe and accessible for mariners.
