Cardiac – Chest Pain Inducing Cases for the Interpreting Radiologist
David Landry
Review variety of cardiac findings (i.e. acute, congential, surgical, iatrogenic) that may be missed or unexpected cause for patient's clinical presentation.
By the end of this session, participants should be better able to:
- Identify cardiac findings on abdominal CT, taking specific note of the visualized lower thorax
- Recognize Iatrogenic causes of chest pain and consider the value of prior imaging and reviewing the patient's chart

Common Pitfalls in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Imaging
Hamed Basseri
This talk is aimed at highlighting common errors and diagnostic dilemmas in multimodality hepatobiliary and pancreatic imaging through a case-based approach. Strategies on reducing the risk of misdiagnosis, refining the differential diagnosis, and strengthening management recommendations are discussed.
By the end of this session, participants should be better able to:
- Recognize common factors leading to misdiagnosis of focal and diffuse hepatobiliary and pancreatic pathologies
- Review imaging mimics simulating common diseases
- Discuss strategies in reducing the risk of diagnostic error

Pediatric X-Rays: Normal Variants that can Mimic Pathology
Heba Takrouri
Through a case-based approach, this presentation will focus on common normal developmental variants and imaging pitfalls observed in pediatric X-rays, often mistaken for pathology. It will discuss recommended strategies to prevent/reduce misdiagnosis.
By the end of this session, participants should be better able to:
- Identify common normal variants encountered on pediatric x-rays that can be mistaken for pathology.
- Describe some imaging modifications and/or additional imaging that can help distinguish those variants from real pathology.

Artifacts, Pitfalls and Pearls in Nuclear Medicine
Cory Ozimok
A review of interesting case examples highlighting potential sources of error when interpreting nuclear medicine imaging studies, including both general nuclear medicine cases and FDG PET. Examples of uncommonly performed studies with interesting applications will also be presented.
By the end of this session, participants should be better able to:
- Describe sources of artifacts in nuclear medicine studies and how to recognize them
- Review pathologies encountered in nuclear medicine that may mimic artifacts and vice versa
- Demonstrate useful applications of nuclear medicine techniques uncommonly performed

Be Specific: Recognizing Uncommon Lung Tumors with Radiologic-Pathologic Correlation
John Lichtenberger
This presentation will focus on common mistakes made when diagnosing thoracic tumors and how a pathologic understanding can help. avoid these mistakes.
By the end of this session, participants should be better able to:
- List common mistakes when evaluating thoracic neoplasms on imaging.
- Explain the imaging appearance of thoracic neoplasms that can refine a differential diagnosis and the pathologic basis of this appearance.
