Speaker Bio
Julien Aguet is a pediatric radiologist in the pioneering Emergency Radiology Division at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, the first such division in Canada. He graduated with a medical degree from the University of Lausanne in 2011 and completed radiology training at the University Hospitals of Lausanne and Bern, earning his specialist title in 2018. After two years of fellowship in pediatric imaging at Zürich’s Children’s University Hospital, he moved with his family to Toronto in 2019 to complete fellowships in pediatric cardiac imaging and general pediatric radiology at SickKids.
From 2021 to 2023, Julien held a two-year clinical research fellowship (Susan Harris and David Kassie Fellowship in Cardiology), studying brain perfusion with ultrafast ultrasound during neonatal cardiopulmonary bypass surgery. This project was a collaboration between the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and the Labatt Family Heart Center at SickKids and the Division of Neonatal Perinatal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. In 2023, he served as a senior clinical fellow in general pediatric radiology and neuroradiology before joining the Emergency Radiology Division in April 2024 as a staff radiologist and assistant professor in medical imaging at the University of Toronto.
His primary research focuses on neonatal brain perfusion, using advanced techniques like MR perfusion and ultrafast ultrasound imaging in neonates with congenital heart disease. Additionally, he explores new imaging technologies for acute and trauma care in pediatric emergency radiology. Beyond his clinical and research roles, Julien is dedicated to enhancing the patient and family experience and fosters a supportive, compassionate environment at SickKids. He is also committed to promoting well-being and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in radiology.
