Anna Lafoyiannis

Anna is the Program Lead of Bulk System Integration of Renewables and Distributed Energy Resources at EPRI. She has over 16 years of experience in the power system industry, with a focus on reliability, resource adequacy, and market design. Anna’s dedication to improving the industry as a whole has brought her to speak at numerous fora, including the National Academy of Engineering, the Energy Systems Integration Group, Electricity Transformation Canada, and the White House.

ESC participants might know Anna before she joined EPRI, when, at the IESO, she developed its capacity market (including enabling storage to participate!) and set specifications for long-term contracts. She also held leadership roles at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), including a term as chair of NERC's Reliability Assessment Subcommittee.

Anna holds a B.A.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Waterloo and M.Eng. in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, with an emphasis on Sustainable Energy from the University of Toronto. She is currently a part-time doctoral student at the University of Waterloo studying Sustainability Management.
