Kristyn is a partner in the Energy group at Dentons’ Toronto office, specializing in corporate commercial law with a focus on energy and climate change. She works closely with clients to structure and build resilient energy and infrastructure businesses, supporting their work in the energy transition.

With over two decades of legal experience, Kristyn advises on commercial matters and mergers and acquisitions, in the energy sector and for private companies in other sectors. Her energy expertise covers all aspects of energy generation with a focus on renewables, transmission and distribution infrastructure development, construction and financing, distributed energy resources, electric-vehicle charging and services agreements, and energy storage of all types. Kristyn works with a diverse range of clients, including private companies in various sectors, Indigenous and non-Indigenous project proponents, lenders, utilities, municipal shareholders, system operators, and government agencies.

In addition to her expertise in energy, Kristyn has a background in climate change law and advises clients on transactions regarding environmental-related credits, participating in the voluntary and compliance carbon markets, commercial agreements and structures for carbon streaming, low-carbon fuel standards, carbon offset regimes, and renewable energy credit regimes. Kristyn has also served as CEO of a climate change-related start-up in the not-for-profit sector.

Kristyn’s policy experience includes acting as a senior policy advisor to the Minister of Energy and later, the Premier of Ontario on energy, economic development, climate change and Indigenous affairs.
