Thinus Neethling, P.Eng., PMP, is Vice President of Hithium Americas, where he leads project delivery and execution for the company's utility-scale battery energy storage business across the Americas. Thinus has more than two decades of experience in energy storage, renewable energy, power generation, and transmission and distribution infrastructure, spanning engineering design and leadership, project execution, procurement, and commercial negotiation. Before joining Hithium, he was Senior Project Manager and Engineer at Black & McDonald, where he led the firm's battery energy storage pursuits. He previously held engineering and leadership roles in the Middle East and South Africa, covering large-scale building services design, renewable and sustainable energy engineering, and the establishment of a commercial electrical distribution modelling software business. Thinus holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Renewable & Sustainable Energy, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, both from Stellenbosch University. He is a Certified Energy Manager and has served on a MaRS panel on accelerating smart grid adoption across Canada, as a member of the Black & McDonald Smart Cities advisory committee, and as a mentor to professional engineering candidates through PEO and ECSA.
