The Role for Energy Storage in Meeting CleanBC Goals
Wednesday, October 9, 2024, 1:10 PM - 2:00 PM

In 2018 the province of British Columbia outlined its ambitious plan to reduce the province’s GHG emissions by 40% by 2030 through the CleanBC initiative. The initiative includes several funding mechanisms such as the BC Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE), which lists battery technology, storage, and energy management systems as an area of focus. Given energy storage’s ability to optimize a grid, balancing and storing clean electricity, there is strong potential for a range of technologies and durations to play a part in the province. This session will ask industry experts, what might a fulsome energy storage plan for the province of British Columbia look like? What key considerations should the province and its utilities keep in mind looking ahead to the development and deployment of energy storage resources? What are the important first steps to begin the integration of energy storage into BC's electricity grid?
