Benjamin Shrager is a storage strategy engineer with the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Electricity (OE) – Energy Storage Division, where he leads projects to analyze, develop, and inform the strategy of energy storage RD&D programs across DOE and OE. Ben is currently leading the Storage Innovations 2030 initiative, the effort aimed at developing OE’s long duration energy storage strategy to enable innovation and maximize energy storage adoption in the U.S. In his role, Ben is also supporting the Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) Demonstrations program, which is funding innovative LDES demonstrations to help enable decarbonization and increase grid resilience. While at DOE, Ben has also led several Congressionally-directed reports on grid-enhancing technologies, led the Energy Storage response to the February 2021 Supply Chain executive order, and served as the topic manager for SBIR projects developing advanced conductors for electricity delivery system applications. Ben received his B.S. and M.S. from Case Western Reserve University in Systems & Control Engineering.
