Devin has established himself as an expert on federal policy issues spanning across a broad range of sectors. As Partner and the Federal Affairs Practice Group Lead, he has dedicated his career at Sussex and beyond to working on energy, environment, agriculture, industrial, healthcare, and technology policy matters.

With over fifteen years of experience in the Nation's Capital, Devin's expertise lies in energy system transitions, clean technology development and deployment, and environmental policy. He has played a key role in shaping federal policy instruments such as the carbon pricing backstop system and clean technology investment tax credits.

Devin's influence extends beyond policy design, as he has also helped secure billions of dollars of federal funding for clean tech, clean energy, and industrial decarbonization projects. His extensive network and experience have enabled him to build lasting relationships between clients and key federal officials.

Prior to Sussex, Devin spent nine years with the Canadian Electricity Association (now Electricity Canada), representing the interests of Canadian electricity companies before federal policymakers, including three years at the Association’s Vice President of Public Affairs. He has also worked in the Privy Council Office and as a founding member of a Toronto-based media start-up.

Devin holds an Honours degree in Economics from Queen’s University. He is an engaging speaker at conferences, writes often on policy issues and keeps a finger on the pulse of international developments. He is a respected participant in a wide range of federal stakeholder committees and has significant experience navigating the political processes of Washington, DC.

Outside of work, Devin is an avid reader, golfer, and skier. He resides in Ottawa with his wife and three sons.
