Simon Barlas is the Project Engineering Director for the Polar Icebreaker project at Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards. Alongside a talented team of Engineers, they lead the multinational team responsible for design of the Canadian Coastguard’s Heavy Polar Icebreaker, the CCGS John Diefenbaker. A Naval Architect with over 20 years of experience in the Marine Industry he graduated from Newcastle University in 2002 and after spending 12 years working in the UK moved to Canada to join Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards as part of the NSS where he has held various technical and management roles in the company.
