Jonathan Anderson and his team of researchers improve privacy and security for users in a wide range of fields. They build and evaluate fundamental software security technologies and apply them to improve medical device privacy, the cybersecurity of marine systems and the security of the general-purpose computers that we all depend on. The Capsicum framework underpins application security in all FreeBSD-based systems, including devices built by Juniper, NetApp, Netflix, Sony and others, and his research has been used to secure prototype systems delivered to the Canadian Space Agency, the Department of National Defence and the US Defense Advanced Research and Projects Agency (DARPA).
