Ahmed Ghowel is an expert marine engineering professional with a BSc from Alexandria University and an MSc in Project Management from Liverpool University, supported by PMP, CCP and product development certifications. Over two decades, he has built a global career across shipbuilding, repair, and conversion, advancing into senior project and program management roles and contributing to high-level steering committees. As Project Manager at Davie Shipyard International, he leads the engineering team designing Canada’s next-generation icebreaker, the PIB.
Renowned for his forward-thinking research, he has introduced innovative concepts—most notably the Floating Shipyard model—which he has presented at major international events, adding measurable value to the maritime industry. Alongside his leadership and research work, he is deeply committed to mentoring through published papers, participation in DNV and LR technical committees, and nearly a decade of teaching engineering students worldwide.
Currently pursuing his PhD, he remains dedicated to shaping the future of the maritime sector through rigorous inquiry, strategic leadership, and a strong belief in empowering the next generation of engineers.
