YOU'RE INVITED!

BC Ferries is welcoming the latest Island Class vessel to Victoria, which will be berthed at Point Hope Maritime for transition into service before making its way to its route serving Nanaimo Harbour & Gabriola Island.

On a first-come, first-served basis, Damen Shipyards Group, Ralmax Group of Companies and BC Ferries are offering tours of this battery-equipped, diesel-hybrid vessel, the future Island xwsaĺux̌ul, for MARI-TECH 2026 registrants (as a non-MARI-TECH, but MARI-TECH-adjacent, event). The tour will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026, with the first group beginning at 4:30pm. Please allow for up to an hour for shuttle and tour time.

Contact Kirsten.Youngs@bcferries.com to register. Please include your:

  • First and last name,
  • Organization or affiliation,
  • Preference, if any, for timing of the tour (4:30pm vs 5:30pm, for example), and
  • Accessibility requirements such as wheelchair access, if applicable.

Spots are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served, basis. Also, please note that availability depends on vessel arrival and transition activities, and so it is possible that dates may change or the tour may be cancelled. If the date must be changed, registered participants will be contacted with respect to an alternate date and timing.

Registration will close at noon, Friday, May 8, 2026, and confirmed participants will be sent a confirmation email and further details on Tuesday, May 12, 2026

Thank you for your interest and for attending MARI-TECH 2026!
