Fritz Stahr is the Chief Technology Officer at Open Ocean Robotics in Victoria, BC, where he guides research, development, and manufacturing of uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) and associated data and control systems. Prior to that he worked on underwater vehicles and instruments with ocean gliders and profiling floats as well as doing research on hydrothermal vents and deep-sea currents using autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). His experience includes ocean-vehicle and instrument production, technology management, ocean education, and mechanical design. He holds a Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Washington and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. (Non-member of CIMARE/SNAME, Fellow of MTS.)
