Crucial Captures: Pitfalls in Emergency Radiology

Moderator: Michael Patlas

Teleradiology - Present and Future
Arjun Kalyanpur

Teleradiology represents the digital transmission of radiologic images over wide area networks to facilitate timely reporting of imaging studies performed in the emergency setting as well as to provide access for remote/rural areas to specialist radiologic expertise. This presentation will focus on providing information regarding the technologic infrastructure and operational requirements for teleradiology, as well as review its regulatory and medicolegal aspects. As radiologist shortages persist, the introduction of Artificial Intelligence algorithms into radiologist workflow is being perceived as an innovative solution of significant potential value. This presentation will also discuss the implications and benefits of incorporating Artificial Intelligence technologies into teleradiology workflow. The speaker will share the two decade experience of an international Teleradiology organization delivering reporting services to both advanced countries such as the US and Singapore as well as developing countries in remote parts of Asia and Africa.

By the end of this session, participants should be better able to:
- Discuss the current operational, technological, and regulatory aspects of teleradiology
- Review future directions of teleradiology including the impact of artificial intelligence

Pitfalls in ER – MSK
Manickam Nicks Kumaravel

In the session, we will discuss multiple cases of musculoskeletal presentations in the emergency room. We will highlight critical findings and discuss potential methods of avoiding errors.
We will focus on the clinical impact of imaging and potential complications.

By the end of this session, participants should be better able to:
- Identify common mistakes in musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging within the emergency room setting by learning to recognize subtle but significant signs.
- Apply skills in correlating clinical findings with MSK imaging results, enhancing the ability to make accurate diagnoses.
