Moderators: Carolina Souza & Scott Adams

This session will highlight relevant basic concepts in cardiothoracic imaging with a focus on practical diagnostic insights. Through expert-led presentations, participants will review the 2025 updates to fibrotic interstitial lung disease classification, recognize noncoronary cardiac conditions detectable on routine chest CT, apply structured approaches to airway disease imaging, and interpret feature-based patterns of pulmonary infections. Emphasis will be placed on translating imaging updates and pearls into accurate, clinically relevant radiologic practice.

At this end of this session, delegates will be able to:

  • Describe the 2025 updates to fibrotic interstitial lung disease terminology and interstitial pneumonia classification.
  • Identify noncoronary cardiac diseases detectable on routine CT chest examinations.
  • Apply a structured imaging approach to the evaluation of airway diseases on CT.
  • Differentiate fungal, parasitic, and uncommon bacterial pulmonary infections using feature-based imaging patterns.

Noncoronary cardiac diseases you can diagnose on CT chest
Anastasia Oikonomou

This presentation will review a range of noncoronary cardiac conditions that can be identified on routine CT chest examinations. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing key imaging findings and avoiding missed cardiac diagnoses outside the primary indication of the study.

Imaging of Airway Diseases
Constance de Margerie-Mellon

This presentation will provide an overview of airway imaging, highlighting key techniques, common pathologies, and practical diagnostic approaches for daily radiology practice.
