Energy Storage assets are being integrated into several Canadian electricity grids, primarily short duration technologies, like BESS. As demand projections continue to increase, system operators are beginning to explore the potential contributions of longer duration assets, but the difference in the services provided between short and long duration storage requires a change in how operators think about storage. This panel will explore the critical differences in the services provided by long and short duration storage, why these services are important for our future grid, and the corresponding changes needed to support their integration & deployment.
